Call for Thyroid Research Grants

The ATA is pleased to announce the availability of funds from ThyCa, ATA, and Bite Me Cancer to support new investigator-initiated research projects in the area of thyroid disease and thyroid cancer. In 2020 the ATA will be awarding 8 grants.  The American Thyroid Association, ThyCa, and Bite Me Cancer have committed to fund grants in the following research areas: 

  • 3 Thyroid Disease or Thyroid Cancer from ATA
  • 1 Thyroid & Development Grant from ATA 
  • 2 Thyroid Cancer from ThyCa
  • 1 Medullary Thyroid Cancer Grant from ThyCa 
  • 1 Medullary Thyroid Cancer  from Bite Me Cancer and ThyCa

Research awards are intended to assist new investigators, US or international, in obtaining preliminary data for submission of a more substantial application (e.g. to the National Institutes of Health (NIH)). Please review the 2020 Call for Research Proposals before proceeding.

The ATA Research Committee will commence their review of the short proposals in February 2020 and invite at least 12 applicants to submit a long application. Long applications will be reviewed in April 2020 and the final decision will be emailed by June 30, 2020. Be sure to check back here for updates on the status of your research grant application.  

  • Short Proposal Due Sunday, February 2 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time
  • First Round Decisions and Invitations to Submit a Long Application by March 31, 2020
  • Long Application Due in April 2020
  • Final Decisions and Award Notifications Sent by June 30, 2020
